COVID-19 FACTS:
Wearing Masks Helps to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19.
YOU SHOULD WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES AROUND OTHER PEOPLE NOT IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD. (CDC, 7/14/2020) Yes, The CDC & WHO changed their direction on masks. These are both science organizations tasked with protecting the public. They're gathering evidence and evaluating it on a daily basis. Originally, very little was known about the disease. However, it is known how people behave when they feel threatened. So, the CDC & WHO originally told the public not to mask up because they were afraid of a run on masks which would put our front line workers at risk. Just look at what happened with toilet paper. TOILET PAPER!!!! So, was it a mistake for these organizations to do this? (Personal opinion: Yes, because people are now skeptical of real science) The process of science requires constant evaluation and re-evaluation of incoming evidence. Scientists MUST change their recommendations as understanding improves. This has been happening for hundreds of years. This is how humans have been living longer healthier lives than our ancestors. Science works because we find out the stuff that works and the stuff that doesn't. Unfortunately, most people don't understand this because they have never observed the process in real time before. Things change, science responds. The following links are backed by real trustworthy science.

Staying home prevents the spread of COVID-19.
Data shows that when people stay home, the disease rates drop. If you want this to end, you're going to need to do your civic duty and stay home! ANY TIME you combine people from different households you increase your risk of transmission. The longer the contact, the closer quarters the contact, the higher number of contacts, results in a higher risk. The sooner everyone stays home, the faster we can all get back to enjoying our lives and sending our kids to school!

Children are just as likely to spread COVID-19 as adults.
There have been many statements about children not being" likely" to spread the disease as much as adults. This is a false statement. A study of 59,000+ contacts of 5,706 people who tested positive for COVID-19 was conducted recently. (Link to study at CDC Website) It was determined that children ages 10-19 were just as likely as anyone else to spread the disease. Link to a story about the study. (Axios Media, 7/18/2020)

COVID-19 is NOT just like the flu
The long term impact of Covid-19 won't be known for a long time, but it is being reported that a large percentage of people with the disease are requiring long term rehab care. Although the flu can be deadly and is every year, it's transmissibility (the ease and ability to transmit the disease from person to person) is far higher than the flu and has much more severe outcomes. (John Hopkins, 2020) Additionally, many people can take the flu vaccine to help prevent its spread. Currently, between 37-44% of adults in the US get vaccinated each year (CDC, 10/25/2018). If a vaccine becomes available, to stop the spread of COVID-19, people will be advised to get the vaccine. (CDC, 2020)

Being asymptomatic doesn't mean you haven't suffered damage.
Studies are starting to come out that show lung damage on CT scans of people who are asymptomatic. (Nature Medicine, 7/24/2020) Currently, it is speculated that the damage may be reversible, however longitudinal studies must be conducted to find out what long term effects linger.

Antibiotics DO NOT WORK on COVID-19.
COVID-19 is a virus, not a bacteria. Antibiotics only work on living bacteria. Bacteria have outer capsules and/or membranes that be destroyed by antibiotics. Once destroyed by an antibiotic, it will cause the homeostasis of the organism to be interrupted, causing its death. Viruses are only made of proteins and genetic material. They have no maintainable internal environment that can be disrupted to cause death. Technically viruses aren't considered alive because of that.

Facebook and other social media is laden with literally billions of non-accredited scientists (everyday people potentially with misinformation). Get your facts from authentic SCIENTIFIC SOURCES.
